And she further aggravated her symptoms by knocking back alcohol and puffing away on a vape – creating a health crisis of her own making.
She explained: “My tonsils got infected and I was taking f***ing antibiotics but forgot that I was taking them.
“Then I drank wine and was vaping all day long and then I started getting a nasty-a** growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today.”
She added: “I cried and it hurt a lot but I’m OK.”
Following the op, however, Doja took to Twitter again to confirm that all of her touring plans had been ruined by her surgery – and to announce that she won’t be appearing anywhere soon.
She wrote: “Hi guys. I wanted you to hear it from me first.
“Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils asap. The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take a while due to swelling.
“That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour.”
She continued: “I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all.”
She earlier announced she was giving up vaping as her throat health was hanging in the balance.
She tweeted: “I’m quitting the vape for a while and hopefully I don’t crave it anymore after that.”
Fans have been left devastated by the news of her festival cancellation.
One fan tweeted: “take care of that throat!! we’ll always be here.”
While another offered to sacrifice their own health, writing: “why god… take me instead take my throat.”
